Books 12, 13, 14, and 15

Kudos to Katherine, Kenia, and Brittany for their engaging, comprehensive, organized, well-executed class presentation. As a group, you've set a new standard and raised the bar for your classmates' future presentations.
What questions do YOU have about these cantos? Post your thoughts, your questions, and your observations here. Brittany, Kenia, and Katherine, please moderate this section of the blog.

  1. Why does Homer set up the reunion of Odysseus and Telemachus the way he did? Did the Telemachy in the beggining of the book intensify and make this book more dramatic?

By the way, you guys did an AMAZING job in class today! It was very clear and had a lot of detail! Overall, I think you guys gave the best presentation so far! It was very obvious that you worked hard on reading and researching these Cantos.

  2. I definitely agree with Brandon that you guys have had the best presentation so far. But although most of the details were clear I got kind of confused as to who you were talking about sometimes. For example, when you were talking about the prophet that Telemachus took with him on his ship, it sounded like you referred to him as Odysseus for a second. Also, why do you guys think that character is included in this book? what is his significance?

  4. Mila, the if the Suitors did kill Telemachus, they will have basically full rights to anything in Odyssues' castle because Penolpe doesnt have the will to fight off the sutiors. If Telemachus did die, I bet that Penolpe would commit sucide.

  5. Thank you to my classmates and Mr. Balgley for giving us kudos on our presentation. :) & Yennifer I'm sorry you misunderstood that part of the presentation.I included the prophet,(Pisistratus, Nestor’s son) into our presentation because he was the companion of Telemachus and towards the ending of Book 15, once they were about to sail back to Ithaca, Pisitratus(the prophet) noticed the eagle attack a small creature, which was very important in the book.
